Come celebrate the successful transfer of the 1857 Lake Forest plat map from its home at City Hall to its new home at the Newberry Library in Chicago. Local historian Art Miller will give a history of the map and Jim Ackerman, chair of the maps department at the Newberry will discuss its significance as one of the last maps of its era. Representatives from the Dunn Museum, History Center of Lake Forest-Lake Bluff and Lake Forest Preservation Foundation will join the panel to discuss why maps continue to matter today.
