An internationally-renowned artist, Mark McMahon’s vibrant watercolors, drawings and murals grace museums, public installations and private collections throughout the world. His work is as diverse as life itself – from documentary paintings of a NASA space shuttle launch featured at the Smithsonian to a 125 foot-long tile mural in Chicago depicting life in the Windy City.

Mark McMahon has also designed several, whimsical city maps--including maps of the city of Lake Forest and Village of Lake Bluff. As part of our focus on "all things maps"--Mark will speak about the overlap between art and mapmaking and how he uses the map medium to illustrate special points of interest and convey an overall sense of place. McMahon map prints and mugs will be available for purchase at the event and for the week preceding at the History Center.
