Join us on Thursday, June 27 as we welcome the Brushwood Center at Ryerson Woods’ Jessica Rodriguez and Eddie Flores for a presentation on the organization’s “Health, Equity, and Nature” report. This report is a tool for community members, organizations, and decision-makers to implement equitable, nature-based policy decisions to improve our communities’ health and well-being. Key findings include data about access to nature, human health, a healthy environment in Lake County, as well as actionably recommendations to empower change. The team will also speak on specific toxics sites that are current disproportionately affecting northeastern Lake County.

Jessica Rodriguez is the Coalition Building Manager at the Brushwood Center, helping to create awareness around environmental injustice within Lake County as well as providing healing based solutions for the relationship with nature through expertise as a certified Nature and Forest Therapy guide.

Eddie Flores is the Youth Education Coordinator at the Brushwood Center, working on bilingual arts and nature-based youth programming through an environmental justice lens. Eddie is also the Co-Chair of Clean Power Lake County, bringing awareness to environmental justice issues at the organization through volunteering since 2019.
